Problem has been cleared. No data loss.
This was caused by a bug in core opensim code mishandling peak load occurrences. The problem has been mitigated for now. a code fix to opensim (and a new version) is required for a proper fix.

There are communications problem from regions to the grid service instances. I have not determined the root cause at this time. This will affect asset access, inventory access, teleporting, logging in. There is no data loss. HOWEVER, do not change inventory, do not upload new things because if you do, those changes will not take place.
