DG Community Meeting 2019-04-06

1:50PM

Tenbears: In voice and in text chat

Hello everyone, please be seated.

We reserved twenty minutes to let people set up their voice chat.

We are not expecting you to have to speak in voice, but we do need you to be able to hear us speak.

[In text chat] Did you hear what I said in voice?

[In text chat] Is there anyone who cannot hear us? Let us know now and we will help you with the settings.

[Spoken and text chat] Also, we want to give priority seating to our local residents. We can handle up to 80 avatars, but if we start to fill up we need to ask visitors to make room for our locals – we truly appreciate that.

From 1:50 to 2:10, we will try to help people get their voice set up, but it would be so much better if you do this well before these meetings. There are several things that need to be done to set up voice. The first one is to make sure the SL Voice plugin is enabled. The easiest way to do that is to reinstall your viewer.

Quick start for setting up voice in Firestorm

1.     Do Ctrl + P to open your preferences window in Firestorm.

2.     Click on the Sound & Media tab.

3.     Click on "Voice" at the top of the window.

4.     Make sure the "Enable Voice" box is ticked.

5.     Click OK.

6.     A white dot should now appear above your avatar's head.

This setup will allow you to hear us talking during the meeting.

There are more detailed instructions for working with Voice as well as some great tips and shortcuts at this link:

2:10PM Meeting Begins

Balpien Hammerer

Greetings, thank you for coming to the second community meeting of 2019. I am Balpien Hammerer owner/operator of this grid.  Our admins are Jay Copperfield, Lindee Ellsmere, and Tenbears Running. Our Greeter Manager and Events Manager is Lily Lightcloud. On staff doing tech builds and keeping an eye on the OpenSim core developments is Kayaker Magic. I maintain the pumps, steam pipes and write code.

To get the full meeting minutes, which will include all the text-chat take takes place, please go to https://discoverygrid.net, click on the {KnowledgeBase} button then navigate to the “meeting minutes” folder. They will be posted there this evening.

Though I am giving this talk in voice to speed things up, text chat works best for questions. Please ask them at the end of each topic area when I open up the meeting for feedback. The admins or I will respond and write our responses in text chat as well as voice. After the meeting we will expand on the answers in the meeting minutes document.

State of the Grid

I added a fifth Robust grid service instance In February to deal with the rise in Hypergrid visitors. The main point in doing that was to prevent all those huge “My Suitcase” folders that avatars carry with them, when they hop in to Discovery Grid, from swamping out local asset fetches.

The influx of visitors was, in part, causing assets to load slower, but that alone was not all that caused a somewhat bumpy month. Linux got hit with a series of security updates that had to deal with 0-day exploits. Those are vulnerabilities that, when they were discovered, already had malware trying to hack into systems. We were not affected by any hacks, but the updates caused their own problems. That led to several sleepless nights on my part. So, I am sorry for the regions having problems.

The New Release that went Oops

The other destabilizer happened when I switched to the then latest version of the 0.9.1.snail OpenSim code. It tested out remarkably well, with textures and mesh loading much faster and fully resolving. Everything had a shiny brighter look, and it fixed many problems. Unfortunately, it worked well in the small but fell apart under load. We had 30 regions running the new release as well as the Robust grid services. After about a week I had to undo the new release to get back to reasonable stability as it was causing far more problems than it fixed.

I have not given up on it. There is another forked release of that newer codebase called os0.9.1.nani31. It removes the changes that are the cause of the performance problems but keeps the fixes and improvements, and it even adds the search feature which is what is needed to make classifieds work! I will be testing this release next week on a few regions then slowly adding more regions to the mix. I hope it works because that will help expedite classifieds.

Thank You Region Upgrade Volunteers

This kind of testing in the large, where we get owners to volunteer their regions for upgrades, is essential. It is the only practical way new code can be stressed tested in a real environment. Simulations only go so far. So, I give thanks to everyone who volunteered to do that. Let’s give a round of applause to the region owners who participated in the testing.

Fixes

I worked around the long sleeping scripts problem, by adding more resources so that up to 1500 scripts can be stuck in sleep and work OK. That burns a tad more memory, but it fixes a lag problem when there are many Christmas lights or wave splashers in a region. A true fix will happen in the coming months with the latest OpenSim release. It is a new scripting  engine that needs thorough testing.

Groups work, though there are still a few idiosyncrasies to keep in mind. If you want to adjust roles and members in your group or post notices, wear the group tag that gives you the privileges to do what you need. If you want to invite someone, do it by opening their profile then click on the little + icon. That lets you add them to any of your groups reliably. It helps if they are online at the time somewhere on the grid.

Questions?

On volunteering to test the 0.9.1.nan131 release

[14:19] Jeff Edwards: Raises hand to volunteer

 [14:19] Drew Hunter: I volunteer

[14:19] hotcuddly bear: I'll try again

[14:19] Jeff Edwards: Put Endless Summer on the list for day 1

[14:20] Arton Tripsa: yeah i volunteer myregion

On Script engines & MoneyServer

[14:21] Neytiri Omatikaya: yes! Y Engine :D

[14:21] Kayaker Magic: I have some blinking Xmas lights that do not cause this problem. I give them away free.

[14:22] Jillian2000 Quintessa: why do't tip jars work?

[14:22] Drew Hunter: also dont have the grooup info open when you invite,  it seems to lock the database

[14:22] Hazumi Kaze: so llSLEEP   is fixed ?

[14:22] Jillian2000 Quintessa: and can't pay the avatar either

[14:23] Hazumi Kaze: ok

[14:23] Balpien Hammerer: llSLeep is not fixed entirely

[14:23] Lindee Ellsmere: llSLEEP is not fixed.

[14:23] Lindee Ellsmere: Not llSLEEP, it is script engine broken.

[14:23] Balpien Hammerer: it is the script engine that is broken.

[14:23] Balpien Hammerer: I made a workaround that will help.

[14:23] Balpien Hammerer: you can have 1500 sleeping scripts with no problems now.

[14:23] Hazumi Kaze: ty Balpien

[14:23] Kayaker Magic: In YEngine, llSleep and all the other delays are fixed by tossing out the old script engine.

[14:23] Balpien Hammerer: YENGINE will eventually truly fix this

[14:24] Jeff Edwards: Soon or LL soon?

[14:24] Balpien Hammerer: tip jars...

[14:24] Neytiri Omatikaya: LOL Jeff

[14:24] Jillian2000 Quintessa: yes yes

[14:24] Balpien Hammerer: Arr you asking why tip jars work for a while then stop?

[14:25] Balpien Hammerer: The current money server freaks out when an NPC bot is rezzed.

[14:25] Jillian2000 Quintessa: is that out of the dance balls?

[14:25] Balpien Hammerer: it stops serving. So the workaround is to TP out of the region and back.

[14:26] Balpien Hammerer: it will be fixed with the new money server.

The Blotter

We still have had problems in the social sphere. Some of the people who were banned tried very hard to reenter as alts. We also discovered that some repeat region crashes were the work of a griefer. We dealt with that person. But again, these sorts of problems also happen in other grids and they involve only a few people.

Nonetheless, I had to develop a comprehensive grid ban system to keep out the miscreants. It does a very good job, but it is not entirely perfect since a determined griefer will find a way to sneak in. It is just a lot harder for that to happen.

Growth

Presently, the grid has 268 total committed regions, a 7.5% drop from January. Some of that drop was an exodus caused by drama, and another part is the usual winter slump and verification problems.

Email Verifications Working

With the verification IMs and emails going out properly, people are verifying their email addresses often within a minute of receiving the emails. Having verified emails, which is our way to be able to reach you, is required by the grid to remain EU GDPR compliant. Several U.S. states have also passed similar privacy protection legislation, so our efforts are in line with that trend.

However, our admins see a number of support tickets where people are not quite aware what is going on. So, pass this on to your friends: when you receive the verification email, respond to it. Click on the “Verify” button. If you fail to do that, in 10 days your ability to go inworld is suspended until you do respond. What you will see from the viewer is a “Logins are restricted” message. Yes, that is seriously confusing but what that message means is that you have to respond to that email. If you lost it, log into the DG WEB site using your avatar’s name and password, scroll down to the account details section, click on the “Send Verify” button to resend that email and respond to it. Simple.

Questions?

[14:28] Lindee Ellsmere: verification of emails caused a problem too

[14:29] Lindee Ellsmere: We have to be GDPR compliant

[14:29] Lindee Ellsmere: Privacy stuff

[14:29] Lindee Ellsmere: We really are not trying to annoy.  :)

[14:29] Lindee Ellsmere: When you receive verification email ......

[14:30] Lindee Ellsmere: respond to it please

[14:30] Lindee Ellsmere: very important

[14:30] Lindee Ellsmere: eliminates lots of probs

[14:30] Lindee Ellsmere: if you fail? you will be suspended in 10 days.

[14:30] Lindee Ellsmere: eeks

[14:30] Lindee Ellsmere: If you lose the email, log in, scroll to acct details

[14:31] Lindee Ellsmere: click on resend verification email

[14:31] Lindee Ellsmere: and then check your email

[14:31] Lindee Ellsmere: and verify.

[14:31] Balpien Hammerer: questions?

[14:31] Balpien Hammerer: if not, Lily, you are up!

OK, I will pass the baton to Lily then to Jay on a few items then I will get back to some inducement offers.

Grid Sponsored Events & Greeter News

Lily Lightcloud:

First I want to talk about the Carnival. The carnival, DG's first event by the Sponsored events team opened up on March 1st. I want to especially thank the sponsored events team: Drew Hunter, Jewel Hunter, Jeff Edwards, and Lorin Tone for their outstanding work and contribution to this project. Without them, this project wouldn’t have happened.

We had a great turnout for the first week and it still continues to get people visiting from time to time. We had an estimated 45 plus people visit the event during the Month of March.

The Carnival has been relocated to the Welcome sim for the time being and is the new landing spot for newcomers to Discovery. There is still plenty of time for you to take a crack at solving the Murder Mystery at the Carnival.

We are preparing for the next event, which hopefully will launch June 1st. We are looking for people to join the team as creators, or contributors. If you are interested in this worthwhile event, supporting Discovery grid, please IM me.

With the move of the Carnival to its new location, we are also looking for greeters. This is a minimum of a 2 hour a week requirement. You don't have to sit anywhere as the way the system is set up, you click on the board to go on call and then continue with the other things you like to do in Discovery. When a new person arrives, you are sent a message, you welcome them and offer them help and take it from there.........If you are interested in welcoming new people to the grid please let me know. This is a great way to meet new people.

Questions?

[14:32] Lindee Ellsmere: AWESOME Carnival!!!!!

[14:32] Jewel Hunter: YAY!!!

[14:35] Neytiri Omatikaya: ty Lily!

[14:35] Balpien Hammerer: ty Lily.

Advertising Events/Regions to the Metaverse

Jay Copperfield:

If you haven’t lived in an OpenSim environment before and are struggling to get your information out and have people come to your Events or Regions you will want to advertise not only within Discovery Grid but also on platforms that are viewed by people all over the MetaVerse.  Here are a few places that you will want to try:

1.)     OpenSimWorld:  http://opensimworld.com/

You can create an account, pick up a Beacon and place it on your Region (Note that you can ONLY have one on a region…so if you have multiple place on the region that you would like to showcase then place a teleporter nearby to help folks get there.

2.)    MeWe:  https://mewe.com/

Create an account, if you do not have one.  You can then join different groups where you can advertise and draw people in from all over the MetaVerse.

Discovery Grid Group

OpenSimVirtual Group

…are just a couple…Create your own Group on MeWe!

If you have places that you have advertised, please let people know…Don’t Keep it a Secret!

Questions?

[14:36] Jay Copperfield: Okay, since I seem to be having problems with voice

[14:36] Jay Copperfield: I will put this in chat

[14:37] Jay Copperfield: I'll give you a couple of minutes to ready

[14:37] Jay Copperfield: Read and if you have questions

[14:37] Lindee Ellsmere: This information will also be in the meeting notes.

[14:37] Jay Copperfield: I would be glad to answer

[14:38] Drew Hunter: classified  classified  classified   please

I am working on classifieds but understand that classifieds are about advertising within this grid. The point of this topic is that to bring in more people you have to advertise in the entire metaverse, which is why we are recommending a process that has event organizers contacting the known metaverse oriented groups and forums.

[14:38] Jay Copperfield: Any other questions about the advertising

[14:38] Jay Copperfield: Then I will hand this back to Balpien

[14:39] Jeff Edwards: How do we notify them? What are those methods?

[14:39] Lindee Ellsmere: I hear a kitty

[14:39] Neytiri Omatikaya: someone's kitty is demanding attention

Inducements

Balpien Hammerer

I’d like to kickstart some growth in the grid, so I have some inducements that come in a few forms.

Most of our events are club oriented and I love that we have places for people to socialize, have a great time listening to the splendid musical offerings our DJs provide. I also want to see other activities like communal build projects, more storytelling (we have some of that already), sailing, flying, racing events, classes, singalongs, team games… and more! For a number of these activities we already have the builds set up and running.

What we need are organizers to set these things up, advertise them, and run them. So, I am asking for volunteers to do that. If you are interested contact the admins. We can help you with some of the basics.

I am offering an inducement for region owners to help us get new regions going. If you get a person to buy a region, you will receive a 15% tier reduction for up to 3 months that the new person keeps their region. There are some fine print requirements (don’t use your alt, this applies to actual people, it’s not transitive, etc.). Contact me for details.

For local people who do not own a region, if you get someone else to (again another person, keep those alts at bay) to buy a region, you will receive a 15% DC$ stipend for up to 3 months that the new person keeps their region. A $40/month region nets you 600 DC$ a month.

Another inducement I am considering is creating some servers located in Europe. Then people who live in Europe would have their regions hosted closer to home. Yu will have lower ping times and much better performance. To do that kind of hardware setup requires some commitment to keep the server(s) with some number of regions. Who would be interested in this?

Questions?

[14:42] Tenbears Running: Boat Drag Race on Marina del Rey as well

[14:42] Lindee Ellsmere: Drag racing YES

[14:42] Hazumi Kaze: (  oh like Little Blue group in SL use to have speed building contests )

[14:43] Lindee Ellsmere: Yes, ask us! We will help. :D

[14:43] Lindee Ellsmere: NICE!

[14:43] Arton Tripsa: wow

[14:43] Jay Copperfield: That is 15%

[14:43] Lindee Ellsmere: for 3 months

[14:44] Arton Tripsa: lol

[14:44] Lindee Ellsmere: no sneaky

[14:45] Jewel Hunter: just get a new person every 3 months

[14:45] Lindee Ellsmere: Yes!

[14:45] Jay Copperfield: Exactly, Jewel

[14:45] Lindee Ellsmere: If everyone did that it would be awesome

[14:46] Jewel Hunter is offline.

On geolocating region servers closer to where people live

[14:47] Lindee Ellsmere: That would be really nice for our overseas clients.

[14:47] Ernie Farstrider: Spain and Italy are major users in SL

[14:47] Arton Tripsa: Australia?

Freebie Areas

I mentioned in the last meeting about two new freebie regions. “Discovery Freemendous” contains some of the Linda Kellie collections, free for the taking. The region “Discovery Freezone” contains curated freebies in a form where you can see, touch and/or walk on. The items are curated by Modee Parlez and Ciena Wyllo. They spend days combing the metaverse for interesting freebies. They try very hard, but if you see that any of the freebies in that region are copybotted, please contact the curators. They will take down the offending content.

DMCA Takedowns

Outside of that region, we handle takedowns formally. We have had a few DMCA takedown demands and the grid will be taking down the offending content. When we take down content under a DMCA demand, it takes down that content everywhere on the grid.

I have to ask everyone to please do the right thing and not pass around copybotted goods. There are grids out there that deliberately copybot commercial items and give them away. They believe everything should be free and, unfortunately, they have no issues with damaging the livelihood of people who labor to make wonderful products. These grids also work to spread the culpability to other grids by dropping in ‘stuff’ boxes.

We need owners of stolen content to file DMCA takedown requests and follow the filing requirements to the letter of the law. The DG WEB site has a sample form letter that helps you do that. Remember only the maker of an item or product can file a DMCA demand. If you see things here or in any other grid you visit that you know belongs to someone else, contact the owner.

Questions?

[14:50] Yichard Muni: Many peoople complain that freebies in Open Sims arestolen. What waranties do you have?

[14:50] Jillian2000 Quintessa: easy to see on the SL marketplace

[14:50] Yichard Muni: ok you were replying already :-)

[14:51] Lindee Ellsmere: We handle takedowns formally. We are subject to the law.

[14:51] Lindee Ellsmere: We've had some demands.

[14:51] Yichard Muni: ok

[14:51] Lindee Ellsmere: We take down the content and when we do it takes it down everywhere on the grid.

[14:51] Jillian2000 Quintessa: Is everything in those STUFF boxes copybotted?

[14:52] Lindee Ellsmere: Not to our knowledge Jillian.

[14:52] Yichard Muni: This is why we have "very kind" people offering us stuff :D

[14:53] Tenbears Running: not all items "free" are from SL, I see, and quite often recently, some items I have recognized as possibly ripped from games.  Even better quality than I have ever seen on the SL grid

[14:54] Arton Tripsa: wow

[14:54] Lindee Ellsmere: yipes!

[14:54] Neytiri Omatikaya: guessing ur not alone on not liking that Bal!

[14:54] Lindee Ellsmere: We like easy.

[14:54] Lindee Ellsmere: :D

[14:55] Jim Rollin is offline.

[14:55] Yichard Muni: when we have "kind peioople" offering us stuff, is it possible to have soome check?

[14:55] Jay Copperfield: There are some great things that you can buy and bring to DG if not available here.

[14:55] Arton Tripsa: a lot of houses come from SL

Work in Progress

What I will present are things I am working on.

Fix money server

The new money server fixes the bug where when you rez a bot/NPC, money transactions fail until you TP out and back. I hope to get that running in late April.

New Billing System

The billing system is moving along. I hope to unveil it in May. It is vastly simpler than the WHMCS based billing we use today.

Classifieds

When we switch to the new nani31 OpenSim release, that will bring OSSearch and the core of what is needed to get classifieds working. Search and classifieds are not part of the core OpenSim code, so having it embedded in this release should help speed up getting classifieds happening. I am hoping for a June release.

Event Calendar Change

No work has happened on getting self-service calendar happening. It is lower priority to the earlier work in progress.

Self-service selectable Terrains and terrain height and starter homes

In the June timeframe I should have the ability for you to select different preset terrains for your regions. This is primarily for people who buy a new region but it also applies to existing regions. Then you can adjust the terrain height. All this occurs in the DG WEB site and it happens in real-time. You can be in the region to watch the changes take place.

There will also be starter home presets to help you quickly set up your place with just a click of a  button.

Self-service region settings:

-        Whisper/say/shout distance

-        Voice clamp and limit distance (example: Welcome region text chat and voice near-field is 40m)

-        Gravity

-        Currency: None, DC$, G$

Although the self-service part is not completed, these region settings can be set by the admins right now. File a support ticket and we will set them for you. A region restart is required. I hope to have these settings available for self-service in your account dashboard sometime in July.

Now it’s your turn. Give us feedback:

Questions?

[14:57] Yichard Muni: the main annoyance is two different passworrds for payments

[14:58] Neytiri Omatikaya: hehe - sorry - really looking forward to Classifieds :D

[15:00] Jillian2000 Quintessa: How about a nice shiny LOGIN button on the web page?

[15:02] Jillian2000 Quintessa: It's so hard to find!

[15:02] Balpien Hammerer: will fix the login button

[15:02] Lindee Ellsmere: The buttons are in alphabetical order too :D

[15:03] Jeff Edwards: My comment to you about a better way to advertise?

[15:03] hotcuddly bear: Mesh rezzing is horrible, how can it get fixed

[15:03] Jillian2000 Quintessa: Yes, my mesh body takes hours to rezz

[15:03] hotcuddly bear: Don't have that problem on any other grid

[15:03] Jeff Edwards: It depends on the sim I am on.

[15:04] Tenbears Running: We are in hopes that next series of code/ Balp mentioned, will help or even FIX mesh rezzing, HCB

[15:04] Lindee Ellsmere: The new nani thingy will take care of the mesh rezzing probs

[15:04] hotcuddly bear: cool

[15:04] Lindee Ellsmere: Balpien is almost ready to test it.

[15:05] Balpien Hammerer: On slow mesh render avatars - that is a 0.9.1dev bug, fixed in the next release.

[15:07] Balpien Hammerer: The mesh loading is a bug in v0.9.1.dev where the message pump fails to allocate enough bandwidth for mesh items.

[15:04] Yichard Muni: I have a request, not a question. 1) Since the Yengine is Phlox, why don't call it Phlox 2)Phlox has several function names startig with iw, and soon hal will be allowed instead. I think we need to follow that, for compatibility

[15:05] Yichard Muni: function names starting with hal(cyon) instead of iw

YENGINE is not Phlox. It uses the principles in Phlox of having a microthreaded scheduler and interpreting an intermediate code instead of compiling it.  It implements the LL and OS functions.

[15:06] Arton Tripsa: Question; the Paramour Dance floor (not the ball) allows you to rezz NPC’s.But here in DG it only rezzes one. Is this because you have set a limit on NPC’s like this or perhaps a glitch in the dance floor? I don’t mind the limit - but just would like to know?

[15:07] Jillian2000 Quintessa: I have danced with over 50 NPCS on that paramour dance floor

[15:07] Jillian2000 Quintessa: here in Discovery

[15:07] Arton Tripsa: ok Jillan!

[15:07] Tenbears Running: Arton, do you have the newer vers  2.1?

[15:07] Lindee Ellsmere: On your region Jillian?

[15:07] Jillian2000 Quintessa: yes it was the newer version

[15:07] Arton Tripsa: Ah the newer version 0 no I don't!

[15:08] Balpien Hammerer: There is no limit on the number NPCs here.

[15:08] Arton Tripsa: ok getting new version - THX

[15:08] Balpien Hammerer: There are farms with dozens of them here.

[15:08] Arton Tripsa: OK GOOD TO KNOW

[15:08] Balpien Hammerer: The limit might be a config parameter in the dance ball?

[15:08] Arton Tripsa: oops sorry about caps

[15:09] Jeff Edwards: I'm just wondering if there is a better way to get word to people about Club events and the like... I put sets on the calendars... post to the groups... but if only 15 are online when I do it, not a lot of effect. Is there a better way I don't know about?

[15:10] Lindee Ellsmere: Jeff, check out the list Jay posted.

[15:10] Balpien Hammerer: Jeff, the best way is to advertise to the metaverse.

[15:10] Jay Copperfield: By the way...the information for Advertising to the MetaVerse is now located in the KnowledgeBase.

[15:10] Lindee Ellsmere: You can advertise

[15:10] Jeff Edwards: Got it

[15:10] Balpien Hammerer: Do not rely solely on local grid residents.

[15:10] Jillian2000 Quintessa: Discord has several channels that advertise cross-grid events

[15:11] Balpien Hammerer: Think of a grid in OpenSim as a large estate in SL.

[15:12] Balpien Hammerer: If you want to draw from other estates advertise to the channels everyone looks at.

[15:12] Jay Copperfield: OpenSim Virtual is a large on in MeWe

[15:10] MoonMaiden Horner: I think a lot of people still aren't understanding notices here in DG...we do have to change on that on the website in order to save notices inworld, is that correct?

[15:12] Balpien Hammerer: Moon maiden? Not sure what you refer to?

[15:13] MoonMaiden Horner: I've heard ppl say they never get notices inworld

[15:13] Balpien Hammerer: Group notices are kept  in the inworld groups for a while.

[15:13] Balpien Hammerer: ah!

[15:13] Balpien Hammerer: OK..

[15:13] Balpien Hammerer: go to the WEB site.

[15:13] MoonMaiden Horner: I'm thinking they don't have the correct boxes ticked on the website?

[15:13] Balpien Hammerer: scroll down to account details.

[15:13] Balpien Hammerer: There is a permissions set of checkboxes.

[15:14] Balpien Hammerer: check [x] Save Group Notices

[15:15] Balpien Hammerer: That was put in because I got a lot of complaints from people NOT wanting to see groups notices and NOT wanting to be inundated with group notices.

[15:15] Balpien Hammerer: By default that permission is turned off.

[15:15] MoonMaiden Horner: Please include this info as a grid notice if possible...I don't think some quiet understand how to use the settings on the website

[15:15] Balpien Hammerer: I will again.

[15:15] MoonMaiden Horner: I still get my group notices to email as well

[15:16] Lindee Ellsmere: We probably need to put that in the Knowledge Base

[15:16] Balpien Hammerer: You will get group notices sent to email if [x] Send Group Notices to Email   is checked

[15:16] Balpien Hammerer: Yes, I agree, Lindee.

[15:16] MoonMaiden Horner: thanks Bal :)

[14:46] Jewel Hunter is offline.

[14:47] Lindee Ellsmere: That would be really nice for our overseas clients.

[14:47] Ernie Farstrider: Spain and Italy are major users in SL

[14:47] Arton Tripsa: Australia?

[14:48] Arton Tripsa: i know

[14:48] Jillian2000 Quintessa: Yichard is from France

[14:56] Jim Rollin is online.

[15:03] Jillian2000 Quintessa: *´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`* ℓ THANK YOU! ℓ *´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`*

[15:03] Jillian2000 Quintessa: for the meeting

[15:03] hotcuddly bear: Mesh rezzing is horrible, how can it get fixed

[15:03] Arton Tripsa: ty for all your hard work1

[15:03] Hazumi Kaze: Thank you Balpien

[15:03] Jillian2000 Quintessa: Yes, my mesh body takes hours to rezz

[15:03] MoonMaiden Horner: Did we cover grid growth?

[15:03] hotcuddly bear: Don't have that problem on any other grid

[15:03] Jeff Edwards: It depends on the sim I am on.

[15:04] Tenbears Running: We are in hopes that next series of code/ Balp mentioned, will help or even FIX mesh rezzing, HCB

[15:04] Lindee Ellsmere: The new nani thingy will take care of the mesh rezzing probs

[15:04] hotcuddly bear: cool

[15:04] Lindee Ellsmere: Balpien is almost ready to test it.

[15:04] Tenbears Running: more other grids do not have huge VARS and that could be one issue that is addressed with that new code

[15:04] Jeff Edwards: I'm calling Grub-hub... "I want it now!"

[15:04] Fayre Scribe: nice.. maybe I'll stop crashing around lots of mesh then. :)

[15:04] Jay Copperfield: Jeff was your question for me?

[15:04] Jillian2000 Quintessa: the VARS are so cool though!

[15:04] Yichard Muni: I have a request, not a question. 1) Since the Yengine is Phlox, why don't call it Phlox 2)Phlox has several function names startig with iw, and soon hal will be allowed instead. I think we need to follow that, for compatibility

[15:05] Jeff Edwards: My question was to Bal, Jay

[15:05] Yichard Muni: function names starting with hal(cyon) instead of iw

[15:05] Tenbears Running: That would be a question for Balp, Yichard..he has stepped away for a moment

[15:05] Balpien Hammerer: (back)

[15:05] Balpien Hammerer: cat wanted food now.

[15:05] Jillian2000 Quintessa: like Jeff

[15:05] Jay Copperfield: ツ

[15:05] Jay Copperfield: Okay, Jeff I just wanted to make sure

[15:05] Jillian2000 Quintessa: He wants it NOW

[15:05] Lindee Ellsmere: Read Yichard's question Bal.

[15:05] Neytiri Omatikaya: after the cat, everyone else comes first

[15:05] Yichard Muni: ok I shall ask him in IM, but another day... time to log to my bed for now :-)

[15:05] Balpien Hammerer: On slow mesh render avatars - that is a 0.9.1dev bug, fixed in the next release.

[15:06] Fayre Scribe: haha.. I thought that was one of my cats making noise.. went to check on them.

[15:06] Hazumi Kaze: ( dont mention cat ..... my dof is under my pc table )

[15:06] Jay Copperfield: Rest well Yichard

[15:06] Hazumi Kaze: *dog

[15:06] Lindee Ellsmere: Nite Yichard!

[15:06] Neytiri Omatikaya: night night Yichard

[15:06] Jay Copperfield: I like Dof...Hazumi ;)

[15:06] Balpien Hammerer: The avatar mesh loading is less about how big regions are. That mainly affects how long it take terrain to render.

[15:06] Hazumi Kaze: :-)

[15:07] Yichard Muni: yes since I am in France I use a bed in France, instead of sleeping in the US. more practical, but I must do it several hours sooner :-P
